Working for my Neighbours in Beaches-East York

One of the most important aspects of local government is being the first point of contact when problems arise. That means staying accessible to everyone, responding quickly with real help, and maintaining a deep understanding of the people, events, conditions, and businesses in BEY. To achieve that, I'm outlining commitments I believe anyone representing Beaches-East York should embrace. These are standards I will commit to once I'm running for council.

How I believe a councillor should show up for you

Staying connected

  • Weekly rotating "Café with the Councillor" events around BEY to engage residents and highlight local businesses and community spaces
  • Quarterly online town halls to discuss the state of the ward and hear directly from residents
  • Create multimedia content showcasing our community and explaining issues and solutions to reach as many people as possible
  • Dedicated outreach to youth and seniors to ensure everyone has a voice

Transparency

  • Publish a clear, accessible record of council votes with explanations for every major decision
  • Maintain a publicly accessible schedule showing how your elected representative spends time working for you

Day-to-day work

  • Respond to all questions, comments, and requests within 2 business days
  • Use transit, bike, car, and walk regularly within our ward and city to personally understand how everyone gets around
  • Continue and expand using polls to gauge support for hyper-local issues like speed humps and parking on specific streets
  • Source campaign materials and infrastructure from local businesses or Canadian suppliers whenever possible
